問題

次の英文は高校生のケン (Ken) についての話です。これを読んで、あとの(1)~(3)に答えなさい。

　One day in English class, Ken's teacher began to talk about *hobbies. He wanted the students to write a report about their favorite *pastimes.

　"Hobbies are fun because they are something we are very interested in," he said. "Having a hobby is good for students, because when you stop studying for homework and tests, it is a good way to relax."

　Ken was worried. He didn't have a hobby to write about. All his friends liked to do different things. They played sports like basketball or soccer. Some boys went fishing, and many of the girls liked dancing. Ken wasn't interested in any of those *activities.

　His uncle invited him to go *birdwatching with him one afternoon.

　"What?" Ken said. "Birdwatching? Just watching birds? That sounds so *boring."

　His uncle laughed, "Maybe it will be more interesting than you think."

　Ken decided to go with his uncle one Saturday afternoon, to see birds out near the *lake.

　"Birdwatching is just *observing birds in their natural *habitat," Ken's uncle said. "The best seasons to watch birds are in the spring and fall because they *migrate from north to south in many places."

　Ken became more interested when he listened to his uncle talk about birds. His uncle taught him how to use *binoculars, and Ken checked the notes in a *guidebook to learn about the way birds *behave and move, about their colors and sizes, and many other interesting things.

　Ken learned that birdwatching was best in the mornings, because most birds are very active and they feed at that time. He also learned about the best places to see them and about *bird calls. There was an *app that he could use on his phone.

　Ken thought some of the birds were really beautiful. He found that he liked this new hobby for several reasons. First, it gave him a chance to walk a lot to different places. Also he could spend time with his kind uncle, and he could relax his mind in *the great outdoors.
