比較級【高校英語】
「-er than / more than」
比較級は２つのものやことを比べるために変化した形容詞・副詞のことです。
基本的には、"tall - taller"のように語尾に「- er」を付ける、または"popular - more popular"のように「more」を前に置いて表します。
★比較級の基本
much ~er / much more ~
「はるかに～」（比較級の強調）
I feel much better than before.
前よりずっと気分がよい
比較級の強調（副詞）

= all the more because he is honest

→ 二重否定（強い肯定）

「少なくとも～」
＝ at least ~
He has not less than 100 dollars.
彼は少なくとも100ドルは持っている
★比較級の慣用表現
more than ～
「～より多い」
She has more than 100 books.
彼女は100冊を超える本を持っている
less than ～
「～より少ない」
The population of this town is less than 10,000.
この町の人口は1万人未満
A rather than B
「BというよりむしろA」
I would rather stay here than leave.
帰るよりもここにいたい
＝ not so much B as A
know better than to do
「～するほど愚かではない」
「～しないほうがよいと分かっている」
I know better than to believe what he said.
彼の言ったことを信じるほど愚かではない
否定文に続く , much less ～
「～は言うまでもなく」
＝ , still less ~
I can't float , much less swim.
泳ぐのは言うまでもなく、浮かぶことができない。
★「to」を使う比較級（ラテン比較級）

「BよりもAが好き」

コーヒーより紅茶のほうが好き
＝I like tea better than coffee.

「～よりも優れている」
This product is superior to that one.
この製品はあの製品よりも優れている
⇔ be inferior to ～
「～よりも劣っている」

「～より年上」

「～より年下」
